Johann Husser’s work is inspired by a period in his childhood of not knowing how to spend his time after school. Often feeling bored and alone in his hometown of Rheine, he spent his time cycling the streets. After moving away from Rheine to study in Dortmund, this series of images was created upon returning. Johann is particularly interested in the subjective point of view and how this can change over time. This series is about the changing perspective he has for his hometown.

After Johann moved to Dortmund to study and the visits home became less and less frequent, he became ever more fascinated with the sense of stasis the city had. Johann became interested in how nothing had changed in the city but his perspective had.
Four years after leaving his hometown, just as he did as a child, Johann took his bike and cycled the streets armed with his camera. The only difference this time was that he was no longer bored. Johann was captivated by the nothingness that he felt in the city. From this fascination with his hometown he has created some very alluring images.
