The exploration of your own surroundings is such a prevalent theme in photography that it almost seems paramount. It is often said that all photography is in some way indicative of the photographer and their interests and by extension, the images actually being about themselves in some way.
Mert Acar explores his surroundings, looking for spaces where there are signs of human existence but void of their presence. To explore with his camera, Mert explains his childish wonder about his surroundings, as if to feel magical. Using his camera as a vehicle for learning, Mert feels the experience of taking photos transforms his perceptions and encourages him to question the philosophical nature of our world, and how it is shaped as an art form.
